A student can opt to learn all required kata for 1st Dan but the understanding of the kata would then be the study after 1st Dan

Black Belt (Jun-Dan) Probationary Black Belt

Same requirements as for Shodan (1st Dan) but for those who are between 13 - 16 years of age. Until January, 2024 we did not consider anyone under 16 for any black belt ranking on a regular basis. We feel it is time to start looking at it differently than in years past. The rank will designated but a white stripe in the belt.
